Venice is 118 islands with 150 canals in a shallow lagoon connected by 400 bridges divided into 6 separate areas. Originally founded 421. Its greatest growth was following the 4th Crusade in 1204. In the 15th & 16th century the first Jewish Ghetto in Europe was created in the Cannaregio section of Venice.

The Ottoman empire conquered and controlled Venice in the 1500's till Napoleon took over 1797 and he removed the gates of the Ghetto and ended the restrictions

After 1797, the city fell into a state of old palaces and abandoned buildings falling into disrepair, although the Lido became a popular beach resort in the late 19th century.

Tour # 1) Venice, Introductory 3 Hours Walking Tour - meet your guide at the Bell Tower in St.Marks Square. Afterwards a walk "backstage" to discover the city's : bridges, narrow alleyways, large & small squares. Pass imposing churches and ancient palaces all with lively informative input from your guide and end the tour in the busy area of Rialto

Tour # 2) Venice, Morning or Afternoon Canal & Murano Island Tour- leave from your ships pier by private watertaxi with guide proceeding slowly along the Grand Canal & smaller canals crossing part of the Northern Lagoon passing in front of the cemetery island of San MIchele & stop at the island of Murano, most famous for glass making. A visit there and then return by water taxi to St. Marks Square or your ship's pier where your tour will end.

Tour # 3) Venice Morning or Afternoon 3 hours Canal & Walking tour - 930 AM or 130 PM - pickup at ship's pier or St Marks Square with guide & private water taxi for an one hour tour of the Grand Lagoon and canals followed by a 2 hour tour (total 3 hours) of the back streets of Venice starting in the busy area of Rialto and ending in St. Marks Square.

Tour # 4) Tasting Venice -(NEW FOR 2009) 5 hours, our newest different tour a guided motorlaunch tour of canals, a walking tour and then visit the fish and produce markets and conclude with a cooking lesson -a private hands on cooking lesson in a Palace Residence for a Venetian lunch experience. Important: Wear comfortable shoes. You must be able to walk over cobblestone surfaces and climb steps and sloping paths in historic areas and gardens. Most churches impose a dress code and admission can be refused. Shorts, tank tops & revealing clothing is not acceptable. Knees and shoulders should be covered. In case of inclement weather or in the event that an attraction is closed another event will be substituted.

Maria, our expert cook will help you prepare the dishes in the well-equipped kitchen of a local Palazzo apartment. You will understand why, centuries after its creation, these dishes are so popular.
